D. K. Jackman papers, 1848-1897.

Circa 150 items received by General D. K. Jackman, mostly ALS from business associates. Items dated 1860-1865, addressed to Jackman at Lock Haven and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, include letters from H. S. Magraw and other associates in Kansas concerning operations of the wagon freighting business of Irwin, Jackman & Company. Most letters dated 1866-1877 are written to Jackman in Bath, New Hampshire, from the Western Land Agency or the Land Agency of W. J. Barney, Chicago, many written and signed by Barney, relating to Jackman's lands in Humboldt, Chickasaw, Kossuth, Pocahontas, and Webster Counties, Iowa, and sales, taxes, and legal cases relating to these lands. Also present are a few letters relating to Jackman's involvement in Pennsylvania state politics; letter fragments; bank documents; and letters written to Jackman's wife and others, 1878-1897, most relating to his estate.
